Back to Blogging

   Posted by: Jim

It’s been a long time since I posted anything on this site, let alone a good review of a book. I haven’t been lazy, at least not idol. Also, I have not put very much information about me on my site, so here is a small amount of catch up.

I am a middle school technology teacher. Among other things I teach wood working and love to be in the shop building things. I have a shop at home and took a lot of time this summer just being in the shop and making furniture. A lot of work and fun for me but did nothing for the blog.

I did not stop reading. In fact I probably read a bit more than usual, except the week I struggled through a book given to me by an aunt in law. So, now that I am back at school and working at the computer more consistently, I will be back to posting reviews on my site.

I hope you all had a good summer and are ready for some short days and long evenings which lend themselves well to sitting down and enjoying a good book.

Did I mention wine? A good book and a class of wine? I guess I’ll save that idea for another post.

“Breathless” by Dean Koontz

Cute little furry creatures, a well educated madman, creepy federal agents, a murderer, and a homeless man, all attended the end of the world as we know it. But this isn’t a mass destruction epic special effect story. On the contrary, according to Mr. Koontz, the world will change completely with a whisper rather than a bang.

I like all of Mr. Koontz stories and this is no exception. He frequently has a multitude of characters where it is hard to imagine how they will fit together in the end but here he does a very nice job of bringing the whys to a nice conclusion.

Many of his characters have difficult backgrounds and lots of baggage. But, he has a very positive attitude toward the average man that allows us to identify with the protagonist and root for their success while buying their humanity and limitations.

Mr. Koontz has a definite point of view and message in his stories and I like both the message and the story. Please keep the stories coming Mr. Koontz
